Battle of the Waste Companies: A Charity Football Match for Sophie White

We at Fawkes Recycling are beyond excited to announce a special event that brings together the waste management industry for a truly meaningful cause. On Friday, 9th May, we will go head-to-head with KCM Waste Management in the Battle of the Waste Companies, a charity football match hosted at the New York Stadium.

This isn’t just about football—it’s about coming together to make a difference in the life of Sophie White.

Supporting Sophie’s Fight

Sophie’s story is one that has touched hearts across the community. At just 21 years old, she was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour after experiencing a seizure while having a meal with her son, Remi (now two years old), and her mother.

In June 2023, Sophie underwent major brain surgery, successfully removing 95% of her tumour. However, she was later diagnosed with Grade 4 Glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, with a devastating one-year life expectancy. The treatments available through the NHS are no longer effective, leaving Sophie and her loved ones searching for alternative options.

Now, there is hope. Sophie has the opportunity to undergo life-prolonging immunotherapy in Germany, but the cost is £200,000. Thanks to an outpouring of support from the community, over £50,000 has already been raised—but there’s still a long way to go.
